Volkswagen Virtus Sedan hits dealerships ahead of June 9 launch

The upcoming Volkswagen Virtus sedan has reached dealerships ahead of its June 9 launch. It is the second VW car to be based on their MQB-A0-IN platform and replaces the outgoing Vento. as an entry-level sedan for the automaker.

We expect the price range of Virtus to start from Rs 11.5 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Dynamic line, going all the way up to Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom) for the high-end GT line. Official reservations for the sedan are underway.

Up front, the Virtus’ design language resembles an evolution of the Vento as it houses a sleeker grille, LED projector headlamps and splashes of chrome across the entire grille and front lip below the black air dam bright. Come to the back and you’ll notice elements resembling the Jetta. Split LED taillights look the part with their smoke-tinted finish, and 16-inch wheels come standard.

The GT Trim steps it up a notch with things like a rear spoiler, blacked-out ORVMs and alloy wheels, and red highlights throughout the cabin.

Step inside and you’ll be greeted with a clean, minimalist dashboard layout. The basic design language is quite similar to the Taigun with decorative trim across the width of the dashboard. And if you opt for the Wild Cherry Red color in the GT trim, that trim will also be color coordinated.

Notable features include a 10-inch infotainment system, 8-inch digital driver display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, 8-speaker audio system, and ambient lighting. The list goes on with ventilated front seats, a power sunroof, wireless phone charging and keyless entry with start-stop button. Safety-wise too, the sedan is packed with features like electronic stability control, up to six airbags, ISOFIX child restraints, rear parking camera, tire pressure monitoring system and hill start assist.

Sharing its foundations with its cousin, the Skoda Slavia, the VW sedan will get the same turbo-petrol options: a 1-liter TSI engine with 115 hp and a 1.5-liter TSI engine with 150 hp. Power will be sent to the wheels using a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic with the 1-litre unit, while a 7-speed DSG will be mated to the larger 1-litre engine. .5 liters.
