Whether domestic or international, travel has undergone significant, even permanent, changes. Covid may no longer be a major concern in a majority of destinations around the world, but its impact is still being felt across different industry sectors, where staff shortages contribute to a summer of travel chaos.

Flight disruption is now becoming the rule rather than the exception, and the massive influx of passengers is causing excessively long delays at some major international hubs. In order to streamline traffic entering and leaving airports and reduce waiting times, Uber will now allow travelers to pre-book their transfer up to 30 days in advance in several destinations.

If you’re planning on traveling in the next few weeks, this is your chance to get a ride to the airport before most drivers are available:

Uber is leading the way among in-class service providers by allowing customers to plan a ride this far in advance, and they have a very good reason for doing this. This year, passenger traffic at US airports has more than doubled compared to 2021, according to data provided by the Transport Security Association (TSA), and it could still increase.

Now that the United States has finally lifted its much-criticized pre-departure testing regime, more than half of Americans who have been patiently waiting for the rules to be relaxed so they can travel will be flying in the blink of an eye. Although this is good news in terms of the recovery of tourism, we have seen how the situation can become anarchic when demand exceeds supply.

We all had to wait in line for endless minutes until the next taxi or Uber was available, headaches and all, after a long plane trip, and it’s never a pleasant experience. Unfortunately, waiting times for airport transfers are expected to increase once summer is in full swing, they are already long and the season is just beginning.

Fortunately, with the new Book Uber optionally, customers can now book trips up to a month in advance to and from multiple airports in the United States and around the world. Although it was launched last year in some places, the update has now been extended to over 55 hubsboth domestic and international, with the latest additions being:

  • Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS)
  • Harry Reid International Airport (LAS)
  • Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
  • San Francisco International Airport (SFO)

  • Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ) – Milan, Italy
  • Milan Linate Airport (LIN) and Malpensa Airport (MXP) – Milan, Italy
  • Giovan Battista Pastine International Airport (CIA) – Rome, Italy

What are some of the new features?

In addition to allowing advance reservations, Uber Reserve gives travelers complete peace of mind, because they are guaranteed that their car will be waiting for them as soon as they leave the terminal. How? The driver is required by Uber to wait up to 60 minutes – with no additional cost – just in case there are any delays. Given the current state of things, we really couldn’t have asked for more.

There are some other pretty neat features that might appeal even to those who aren’t huge Uber enthusiasts: when a flight is delayed by more than 60 minutes, Uber’s built-in flight tracking system will automatically adjust the estimated time of arrival, based on flight information, for make sure the driver is always there on time.

Where possible, drivers will also be assigned prior to pickup as requested by the customer. In addition to this, passengers can select drivers from their “favorites” list on any reserve trip. Lately, curbside pickup and restaurant pickup at some airports now allowedmaking it easier for passengers to find their car without having to walk to designated areas.

How far in advance should I request my Uber?

As air traffic increases and all taxiways become heavily congested, it may be a good idea to plan your Uber in advance to make sure you get to the airport in time for your flight. Most importantly, pre-booking a transfer to your destination is essential, unless you are ok with waiting for the next available driver to pick you up… Along with everyone else on your plane.

Airports like Cancun International can be incredibly busy during peak hours, when hundreds of thousands of passengers transit airside or rush straight to the airport entrance gates to catch the first taxi, and sometimes it’s impossible to find a ride in just a few minutes. minutes. As we mentioned earlier, the demand for travel is only increasing.

Scheduling an Uber ride or pre-booking a private transfer, in the case of Cancun, can save you the hassle of trying to find a reliable driver when you’re desperate to get to your hotel as quickly as possible.
