The Urban Cruiser Hyryder Hybrid SUV has been in development for some time. Just like the previous model, the new Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV will also have its next Maruti Suzuki version which will be called Grand Vitara.
The first of its kind in the midsize compact SUV segment, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder will feature both smooth and powerful hybrid powertrains. While the first will equip the 1.5 liter engine of Maruti Suzuk coupled to an integrated starter. The latter will see Toyota’s 1.5-litre TNGA ATKINSON cycle engine mated to an electric motor powered by a 177.6V lithium-ion battery.
The mild-hybrid version will be available with both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive (segment-first) options. The potent hybrid will be available only with front-wheel drive. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic for the mild hybrid; and an e-drive transmission for the powerful hybrid option.
