Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) has started production of the highly anticipated Honda City e:HEV hybrid at the company’s plant in Tapukara, Rajasthan. The new Honda City e:HEV is India’s first powerful hybrid electric vehicle in the mainstream segment and will become the most affordable hybrid sedan when launched in the country. Customers can book the New City e:HEV at any authorized Honda dealerships across the country with a booking amount of Rs 21,000 or through the “Honda from Home” platform on the Honda Cars India website with a booking amount of Rs 21,000. Rs 5,000.

The new Honda City e:HEV features Honda’s highly efficient, self-charging dual-motor e-CVT hybrid system connected to a 1.5-liter Atkinson-Cycle DOHC i-VTEC gasoline engine, power unit (IPU) with lithium-ion battery and a direct coupled clutch linked to the engine. The e:HEV hybrid electric system uses three driving modes – EV Drive, Hybrid Drive and Engine Drive, as well as a regeneration mode during deceleration. A power control unit provides automatic switching between the three modes according to different driving situations.

The New City e:HEV’s hybrid electric system produces 126 hp and maximum engine torque of 253 Nm between 0 and 3,000 rpm. Honda promises fuel efficiency of 26.5 km/l, making it one of the most fuel efficient cars in India and the most fuel efficient sedan.

The Honda City e:HEV will also feature Honda’s advanced intelligent safety technology “Honda SENSING” for the first time in India. Honda Sensing safety features include Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Adaptive Cruise Control, Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) and automatic high beams.

Inside the cabin, the new City will offer a connected car experience with 37 Honda Connect features, smartwatch functionality as well as Alexa and OK Google integrations. It also features an Electric Parking Brake (EPB) with automatic brake hold, a new 17.7cm high definition color TFT meter that displays multiple information including e:HEV power flow meters, a display 20.3 cm touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity as well as one-touch power sunroof and mood lighting.

On the outside, the Honda City e:HEV features a new Honda Solid Wing Face, Blue H-mark logo front and rear, new Claw-style fog light trim, e:HEV emblem on the rear, a new black painted diamond cut Alloy rims, new boot spoiler and new rear bumper diffuser with carbon finish.

Honda City e:HEV is equipped with AVAS (Acoustic Low-Speed ​​EV Mode Vehicle Alert System), 6 airbags, Honda lane monitoring, multi-angle rear view camera, tire pressure monitoring with deflation warning, vehicle stability assist with agile handling assist, hill start assist, ISOFIX-compatible rear outboard seats with lower anchor and top tether, and more.
