Avis Prestige supercar rental debuts in Australia

Do you hear that guttural roar in the distance? Chances are it’s someone unleashing the pure, unbridled power of a Lamborghini Huracan, Bentley Continental GT or McLaren 570S, one of the high-end supercars now available at the rental via the new Avis Prestige.

From today, Avis customers in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast can live out their high-octane fantasies, taking a seat behind the steering wheel wrapped in leather of some of the greatest feats of automotive engineering in the world.

Avis Prestige is designed to complement Avis’ existing premium local car rental offering, Avis Signature Series, which gives drivers access to a range of Mercedes and BMW vehicles.

It is also the second luxury rental service to debut on Australian shores this year, following the arrival of the already hugely international hit Porsche Drive Rental in February.

Offered in partnership with Prestige Rentals, who will manage the end-to-end experience, each Avis Prestige rental includes delivery and collection of the car at the customer’s chosen location.

The McLaren 570S can go from 0-60mph in 2.8 seconds, although you probably shouldn’t rent it.

Tom Mooney, Managing Director of Avis Australia, said: “As a trusted brand in the car rental industry, we wanted to offer our customers even greater choice and access to some of the most popular cars in the world. Australia, that’s why we launched Avis Prestige.

“Our goal at Avis is to always be guided by the best. Avis Prestige will make the luxury car market more accessible to customers and give them the option of renting a special vehicle for big celebrations or for an elevated weekend.

Vehicles are limited and will vary from location to location, but will include models like the Rolls-Royce Ghost, Ferrari 488 and Audi R8 V10, as well as the Maserati GranTurismo.

As expected, however, there are some age restrictions. Those hoping to squeeze into a prestige car will need to be 25+, while supercar renters will need to be 30+.

A deposit varying between $5,000 and $15,000 will also be payable upon pick-up.

Australia has seen huge demand for rental vehicles in recent years, especially among domestic tourists taking advantage of border closures and exploring more of our own backyard.
