A 23-year-old arrested after stealing four wheels from a car in Ronda then offered them for sale on the internet
As reported in a press release from the provincial police station, a 23-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stealing the four wheels of a vehicle belonging to a neighbor in the municipality of Ronda in Malaga.
National police investigators located and identified the suspect after he tried to resell the effects on an internet platform selling second-hand goods.
The theft took place on February 23 in Ronda. A resident found her car – which she had left perfectly parked on the public highway – without any of the wheels. She then reported the theft to the Ronda National Police Station.
Only a few days after the crime, a relative of the owner of the vehicle saw an advertisement on the internet referring to four wheels with the same characteristics as those stolen. In order to deceive the seller and gain his trust, the relative posed as a potential buyer and they engaged in a dialogue via Whatsapp.
This led the suspect to share several images of the stolen wheels with the person he believed to be a potential buyer. All messages and photographs were provided to the police, who continued investigations to reach the alleged perpetrator.
After conducting their pursuit, the police identified the suspect as a 23-year-old resident of the nearby town of Sierra de Cádiz. He was quickly arrested for his alleged involvement in a felony theft. The stolen wheels were recovered and returned to their rightful owner, as reported theopinionofmalaga.es.
